St. Thomas for the hub, St. John for the park beaches, St. Croix if you want a slower island.

December–April is high season. Summer and fall are quieter, hotter, and inside hurricane season. St. John campgrounds and park beaches book ahead in winter.

STT (St. Thomas) is the main airfield; STX serves St. Croix. U.S. citizens: no passport (see territory entry). St. John is a ferry from Red Hook, not a rental-car surprise. Drive on the left.
