Florida Keys

One road, many keys. Pick a stretch and stay put overnight.

When to go

December–April is the dry, busy season. Summer is hotter, wetter, cheaper, and inside hurricane season. Shoulder months (May, November) are the practical dreamer’s bet.

How to get there

Fly into EYW (Key West) or MIA/FLL and drive US-1. The Overseas Highway is the trip. A car is almost required unless you are locked to Key West Old Town.

Neighborhood / area split

Key Largo / Islamorada for water and a shorter drive from Miami. Marathon as a midpoint. Key West for the circus at the end of the road — walkable, crowded, worth one or two nights, not the whole Keys.

Budget vs splurge

Budget: a mid-Keys motel, a cooler, state-park beaches, snorkel from shore. Splurge: a waterfront room and a sunset sail you booked as a boat trip, not a timeshare pitch.

Season notes

Hurricane season is the planning constraint, not a vibe. For a U.S. forecast desk on the same collection, see Weather4Site’s hurricane brief — then still use NHC and your hotel’s cancel policy.

Take the room

These are the U.S. and territory trips we write. You already know the neighborhood — pick dates and lock a bed. Same rooms the big sites sell. No extra fee for using this desk.
