When to go

Same southeastern CT calendar as Mohegan Sun — fall color, winter events, summer humidity. Weekends fill first. Combine both properties on one trip if you want; they are a short drive apart.

How to get there

Car first. Same airports as Mohegan (Bradley and T.F. Green, about an hour). NYC 2½–3½ hours; Boston 1½–2½; Providence and Hartford about an hour. Foxwoods is a campus: follow resort signs, pick a hotel garage, and use the indoor walkways. Bus tours exist; a train still dumps you short of the driveway.

Neighborhood / area split

Foxwoods is Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation land in Mashantucket. Hotels on the official site: Grand Pequot Tower (more formal, attached to the action), The Fox Tower (nightlife / convention energy), Great Cedar Hotel (central, a notch quieter). They connect indoors. Lake of Isles is the golf. The Mashantucket Pequot Museum is a genuine adjacent reason to come that is not a slot floor.

Budget vs splurge

Budget: Great Cedar midweek, museum day, one showroom ticket or none. Splurge: Grand Pequot, a Grand Theater night, spa. You will walk more inside this campus than the map suggests — pack shoes, not just heels.

Season notes

Woods and hills, not desert. Ice and leaf-peeper traffic are the local hazards. Confirm museum hours separately from casino hours.

Beyond the floor

Walk the indoor connectors. Golf at Lake of Isles if that is your sport. Outlet retail sits next to the campus. The genuine non-floor reason to come is the Mashantucket Pequot Museum — confirm hours; it is not a casino annex.

Vs the other CT resort

Foxwoods is the bigger footprint: Grand Pequot Tower if you want polish attached to the floor, The Fox Tower if you want nightlife energy, Great Cedar if you want central and a notch quieter. Mohegan Sun is the more compact two-tower resort with the arena as the trip-maker. Neither is a consolation prize. They are 15–20 minutes apart on the same I-395 corridor.

Get there

T.F. Green (PVD) is often the closer field to Foxwoods. Bradley (BDL) is the in-state Hartford airport. The two resorts are about 10 miles / 15–20 minutes apart, so either airport works for a two-stop weekend. Last mile: rental car.
